Five Stones Counseling Center
Genuine. Engaging. Private. Safe. Biblical. Refreshing. Personal.
The story of Five Stones began in the kitchen of a farmhouse located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. From there, it wandered with us through a number of venues including a couple of states, a daylily garden, a high-end historical office, hospital waiting rooms, an abandoned house, and a friend’s coffee shop. Our idea persevered through multiple moves, ministry roles, raising three children, and trials of many kinds. Each venue shaped this idea; each change of scenery helped focus this vision: Counseling in a coffee shop meets confidential setting.
Our counseling idea combined with our ministry passion and experience led to many interesting conversations, most of which started with questions like these: What would we discuss over a cup of coffee with God? What conversations could take place at God’s kitchen table? What would that time and place look like?
These discussions were the framework for the way we designed Five Stones Counseling Center, not only in appearance, but also in operation. From the counter-turned-coffee-bar to the services available, we envisioned a place where authentic life change occurs.
We believe that relationships are fundamental to God’s design. We need safe, inviting places to connect and communicate. We want to be loved unconditionally through the best and worst of days. We want forgiveness when we make mistakes; guidance and healing when we hurt; peace when we are afraid; and insight when we are confused. We need hope – enormous, life-changing hope. Thankfully, God offers all of those things and more. God is the author of relationship.
We love witnessing that light bulb moment when someone grasps the truth found at the intersection of their life and God’s Word; we love the healing that can take place within a heart surrendered to God; and we love the ministry that takes place around a kitchen table over a cup of coffee. Opening the doors to Five Stones is the actuality of a long awaited idea and also the beginning of what God has planned. Through our Christ-centered relationship counseling, executive coaching, teaching, and writing, God continues to develop our story.
